Forever Norfolk is a small portfolio of luxury self-catering holiday homes along the north Norfolk coastline. Debbie Down started it all in 2005, with a boutique interior design business, Rooms with a View, in Diss, Norfolk.
As the business expanded, a rundown one bedroom cottage close to the north Norfolk coast was discovered and purchased in 2011. With no running water or electric, the house had not been lived in for over 10 years. After 2 years of effort, on the weekends whilst running the business during the week, Hollyhock Cottage had been transformed from a damp, unloved building into a cosy, characterful cottage with all mod cons but retaining its 200-year-old roots. Top quality furnishings and Debbie’s design skills ensured the cottage hit the mark and was soon featured in Country Homes and Interiors magazine as one of their top pet-friendly holiday home ‘picks’.
The success of Hollyhock led on to the renovation of Cow Parsley Cottage, further along the coast near the coastal town of Wells next the Sea. Again with one luxury bedroom, Cow Parsley opened up a different part of the Norfolk coastline for guests to explore.
Then in 2019, Woodcutter’s was discovered – perfectly located on the edge of the Gunton Estate, close to Cromer, the Norfolk Broads and two large National Trust estates. Sadly neglected for many years, the former estate workers cottage retained many of its historic features such as its mullioned leaded windows and massive carved oak beams. After a total renovation, this three bedroom cottage was added to Forever’s portfolio in the summer of 2019, and featured in February 2020 on the cover of the UK’s Country Homes and Interiors magazine as its property of the month.
As a dog lover herself, Debbie was determined to make all the cottages doggie friendly, with enclosed gardens, hard flooring downstairs and all the little extras to make life easy when holidaying with pets.
